Santa Paddle 2009 :: Pleadhagaich Bodach na Nollaig 2009

E-mail Print

After seeing a load of Santas running over one of the Ness Island bridges as we paddled under it last year, members of Inverness Canoe Club decided to take part...but with one small difference...

No running for us...so, 2009 saw the first ever 'Santa Paddle' as part of the 'Wild Hearts' Santa Run...

Despite rain, very high water levels and plenty of cold air, seven Santas made it down the Ness in kayaks - not Rudolf, though, as it was his day off!!

Should paddlers colour-code their gear?

Newsflash

The annual River Ness Marathon (organised by members of Inverness Canoe Club) will be held on: Sunday 24th July 2011.

The race constitutes one of four marathon events held each year in northern Scotland as part of the SCA's Highland Marathon Series and each year, more and more people are drawn to the event; it's a fantastic day out for all the family!

Serious paddlers can undertake the challenging long-course, while those who like life a little more relaxed can paddle the shorter section from Dochgarroch down to the city centre...if you're in it to win it, or just enjoy a social paddle, then there's something to keep you occupied...
