New Club Base Project

>>> Stop Press >>>

Inverness Canoe Club is embarking on an exciting project to establish a new club base at Dochgarroch, to the south-west of Inverness.

We have created a special webpage to provide information to our members about the project; initially in the form of a questions and answers document. We'll also post news and updates on this page as the project evolves.

The project will only be a success with the support of our members, so please take some time to read through the questions and answers and, if you'd like to get involved, drop us a line at: This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it

You can access the club base webpages here: http://www.invernesscc.org.uk/about-the-club/new-club-base-project.html

Club Coaches' Development Course

Print

The club will be holding a club coach development day on Sunday 4th Dec 9.30am 'til 5.00pm at Alness swimming pool (behind Alness Academy).

The games hall is booked 9.00am – 2.00pm and 4.00pm – 5.00pm and the pool is booked 2.30pm – 4.00pm. Tea, coffee and biscuits will be provided, but please bring your own lunch.

Why do we need a club coach development day?

Well, there are more than 260 members in Inverness Canoe Club and more than 40 people who are registered to coach with the club, have coached with the club in the past or who currently coach with the club on a regular basis.

With the diversity of recreational disciplines practised in the club, and the amount of paddling that we all like to do, coaches rarely have the opportunity to get together. There is a wide range of qualifications and experience among club coaches. In bringing together as many (existing and potential) coaches as possible I would hope that:

  • We will get to know one another;
  • New coaches will be introduced to potential mentors;
  • New and potential coaches will be inspired to become more active within the club;
  • We will achieve consensus regarding the direction we wish the club to take and how we think we will get there;
  • We will reinforce consistency of coaching methods;
  • Each coach will have the opportunity to reflect on their personal paddling and coaching development needs;
  • We will produce plans for how we want to deliver coaching/paddling in each of the recreational disciplines that club members are active in;
  • We will have some fun!

The agenda will be delivered by experienced club coaches. Further details will follow via the mailing list. In the meantime, for more information or if you'd like to attend, please contact Margaret Pearson: This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it

ICC Open Day 2011

STOP PRESS >>> ICC Open Day

Inverness Canoe Club will be holding its annual open day on Sunday 16th October, 11am 'til 4pm.

This year the event will be held at Dochgarroch on the Caledonian Canal, by the lock gates where Loch Dochfour meets the River Ness.

It's a great day out for all the family and an opportunity to try out a variety of kayaks and canoes. We'll also be running demo sessions on: open boatting, sea kayaking, kayak rolling, play boating basics and white water safety.

We also hope to have a general stand on joining the club and membership and there will be a BBQ (although please bring your own burgers etc.). This is a come-and-try day, so please bring a change of clothes if you'd like a shot on the water!

Members and non-members are most welcome. For more information, please contact Dave Young ( This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it )

Ness Marathon Results

As ever, the Ness Marathon proved to be a great event. This year it was organised by Inverness Canoe Club.

Fine weather and good water levels saw around 30 people compete for both the short and long course titles.

Looking forward to next year...
