Terms of Membership :: Cumhachan Ballrachd

All members joining the club shall be deemed to accept the terms and conditions of the club's constitution and any byelaws/terms of membership published by the club (copies listed below).

Liability Statement

Canoeing and kayaking are ‘assumed risk water contact’ sports which carry associated risks and are potentially hazardous. All members of Inverness Canoe Club (hereafter referred to as the "club") must ensure that they are fully aware of these risks before embarking on any club activity and thereafter do so entirely at their own risk.

For the duration of all club activities, each individual club member is responsible for their own actions and involvement, and for ensuring that their personal skills and experience are commensurate to the environment in which they are active; they are also responsible for the suitability and condition of all equipment they use. Neither the club, nor its office bearers, can or will accept any liability for any loss or injury, to person or possessions, sustained whilst participating in club activities.

Terms of Membership

1. Club members understand and accept fully the club's Liability Statement and agree to abide by all club byelaws and policies;

2. Club members must be able to swim a minimum distance of 25 metres unaided;

3. Club members accept that canoeing and kayaking are ‘assumed risk water contact’ sports which can be hazardous and are undertaken at their own risk;

4. Club members must confirm at the point of membership that they do not suffer from any undisclosed disability or medical condition which may render them unfit for strenuous exercise; and

5. Club members consent to the information submitted with an application being stored on a computer for offical club use only.

Details of our annual Introductory Spring Course have now been announced. Places are limited and this course is often over-subscribed, so please don't delay booking a place if you're interested.

"The Spring Course is Inverness Canoe Club's annual introduction to canoeing/kayaking course; it is held primarily at the Muirtown Basin in Inverness. It is aimed at those who are new to canoeing/kayaking and would like to learn the basics. The course roughly follows the new BCU One Star performance award syllabus, however we try to include extra skills and experiences to give you a fuller flavour of all that paddlesport has to offer. The cost of the course is £65.00 which covers equipment hire for the 8 sessions and for the trips.  The course will be held primarily at the Muirtown Basin, by the Scout Hut in Inverness but there will also be two Friday evening pool sessions (held at the Aquadome), a river trip and a sea trip."

The course commences on 8 April 2011 and completes on 8 May 2011.
