Slalom Course :: Cùrsa Slalom

Background

Inverness Canoe Club is currently progressing an exciting project to bring a mini-slalom and training course to Bught Park, Inverness. The course will be home to the annual Highland Coaching Panel Slalom event, as well as providing excellent training facilities for both existing paddlers and newcomers alike.

The project was initially set in motion by former ICC President and SCA Regional Coaching Organiser, Steve MacKinnon, however the club has now added its weight to proceedings in order to maximise funding streams and support.

It facility will comprise a full length slalom course on the old Bught Park hydro tailrace, along with access steps, judging platforms and floodlighting.

The slalom course will be available not only to Inverness Canoe Club members, but to other community groups in the Inverness area.

Statutory Consents

We now have full planning permission and a formal access agreement in place for the course. We would like to express our sincere thanks to the Highland Council, Scottish Natural Heritage and the Scottish Environment Protection Agency for their help in guiding us through the statutory processes.

Funding & Support

We are happy to announce that we have so far secured funding from greeninverness, the Inverness Common Good Fund (through The Highland Council) The Co-op Community Fund and The People's Trust. We have also received sponsorship from Brandon Landscpaing Ltd. All of these organisations' input and support, especially at such an early stage, is extremely welcome and appreciated.

If you would like to make a donation to the project and help us reach our target, it would be very much appreciated and, no matter how large or small, will help us to provide this excellent facility.
